Welcome to
the Lovett House Bed & Breakfast, a Colorado State
Historical Site. Formerly known as the Log Cabin
Bed & Breakfast, it has been a B&B for over 12 years.
We changed the name to Lovett House Bed &
Breakfast in honor of the original couple, Sam &
Kate Lovett, who built the Pioneer log style home in
1891. We were honored when their granddaughter, Mrs.
Doris Stewart, who lives in Cedaredge at the age
of 95, gave us her blessing to use the family name.

The Lovett House first opened its doors to the public in 1894 as
Cedaredge’s first post office, with Mrs. Lovett as its
postmistress. The home also served many travelers as a “way
station” in between Delta and the Grand Mesa. So as you can
see, the home has been welcoming guests for over 114 years, and
we hope to preserve the tradition by having our doors open to
guests traveling to, or through, the wonderful town of
Cedaredge, Colorado.
You will find the log home to be very charming with lots of
personality. The three guestrooms have
been
named for the
Lovett Family: Sam’s Room, Kate’s Room, and Amanda’s Room named
for their adopted daughter. The living/dining area and parlor
are always open to our guests for visiting,
reading or simply
being mesmerized by the dancing flames in the stone fireplace.
Our home rests on 1 ½ acres of magnificent old trees, including
Colorado’s
State Champion White Ash
tree, and a small orchard with a
variety of fruit trees. The grounds are beautifully fenced in
cedar split rail, with a separate area designated especially for
the traveling
pet companion. Our yard is a perfect place for
relaxing, bird watching, or an evening of gazing at the stars
.
Included in our night’s stay, you will awake to the aroma of
coffee brewing and enjoy a wholesome home-cooked breakfast at
the dining room table, or at the table on the front deck,
weather permitting. Whether you’re an egg fan, or prefer
pancakes, you won’t be disappointed in the unique recipes that
will complete your stay with us.
The Lovett House is quite easy to locate; we are just one block
north of the only stop light (Main Street) in Cedaredge, on the
west side of Grand Mesa Drive (Hwy 65). From our driveway you
can be atop the Grand Mesa in approximately 20 minutes, where
the mountain views, wildlife and over 300 lakes will take your
breath away with their beauty. Or, in a matter of a few minutes
you can be walking downtown to the local restaurants and all the
fantastic shops on Main Street, a real treat in itself. |
